Dr. Paul M. Cangiano

Dr. Paul M. Cangiano was born in Boston, Massachusetts. A true Bostonian, Dr. Cangiano is first generation, last child of four. His parents immigrated from Avellino, Italy in the 1950’s to Massachusetts. Dr. Cangiano presently resides in Boston’s North End where he feels at home with in the community.
In 1990 he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics. This is what started his first interests in optics and the eye.
From 1990-1992 he was involved in Bioengineering and research which fostered an interest in the medical field.
In 1996, Dr. Cangiano received a Doctorate degree in Optometry from the New England College of Optometry.
From 1996- 2004, Dr. Cangiano was part of Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. A large multi-specialty group practice in Boston. It was in these years where he developed his skills in pre and post surgical management with state of the art laser treatment and work along side Boston’s best ophthalmologist and surgical staff.
Dr. Cangiano has a special interest in refractive surgery, which includes LASIK-laser vision correction and PRK. He worked on some of the early FDA clinical trials and continues to educate patients on new technology through seminars and lectures.
Although Dr. Cangiano’s professional activities are many; he devotes a significant amount of time to the community. In the past, he worked with local Lion’s Clubs performing vision screenings. He was also very active in the Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity, where he served as president and setup and participated in Eye Care Missions in underdeveloped Countries.
Dr. Cangiano strives for excellence in everything he does, but realizes that his greatest source of happiness is helping others.
Dr. Cayla M. Bergstrom

Dr. Cayla Bergstrom happily joined the Vision North team in June 2017 as an Associate Optometrist.
Dr. Bergstrom received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. While attending the university, Dr. Bergstrom worked as an optometric technician; it was interactions with children and young adults receiving their first eyeglasses that moved her to pursue optometry.
Dr. Bergstrom graduated with her Doctorate degree in Optometry form the New England College of Optometry. Dr. Bergstrom’s clinical experience has been with the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute-Pediatric Optometry Clinic, the Providence VA Hospital, the Newport Naval Health Clinic, and the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center.
In 2017 she was awarded the Dr. Hyman R. Kamens Award for commitment to service, leadership, compassion and integrity in the college and optometric profession. She was also, in 2017, awarded the F. Dow Smith Award for leadership ability in the profession of optometry.
Dr. Bergstrom is originally from Minnesota. She now lives in the Boston. She is an amateur foodie, avid reader and outdoor enthusiast.
As Dr. Bergstrom joins the Vision North team, she is most looking forward to building lasting relationships with the people in the community.
Dr. Mallory Miller

Vision North welcomes our newest optometrist – Dr. Mallory Miller, who joined the practice as an Associate Optometrist in June 2022.
Dr. Miller graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from the University of Delaware along with minors in Biology and Nutrition. After completing her undergraduate degree, Dr. Miller accepted a position as an optometric technician and never looked back.
While pursuing her graduate degree in Optometry, Dr. Miller continued to work as a technician and pursued additional elective clinical placements in Pediatrics. Dr. Miller completed externships with honors at the Newport Naval Health Clinic, Portland Oregon VA Hospital and Providence Community Health Center. Her clinical experience included rotations in ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, as well as vision therapy with pediatric and TBI patients. She graduated with a Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry here in Boston.
She has a particular interest in dry eye management and pediatric vision. She finds her work incredibly rewarding and feels very lucky to get to chat with and support her patients!
Dr. Miller comes to us originally from Pittsburgh, PA and is now happily settled in Boston. When Mallory isn’t at the office, you might find her trying Boston’s newest restaurants, out for a run on the esplanade, or relaxing with friends.
Christopher J. DiTavi LDO, NCLC

Chris DiTavi has been in the optical industry since 1994. After being in the horticulture field for six years, he decided to follow in his father’s and brother’s footsteps and join the optical field.
Chris attended Worcester Technical Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts where he received his degree in ophthalmic dispensing. During his two years at WTI, he served on the student advisory board and received the Silor Laboratory Award in May 1996 for top eyewear fabricator. He graduated in June of 1996 in the top 10% of his class with honors.
In 1997, Chris joined the New England Contact Lens Society. He joined the board of directors in 1998 and and in 2002 was elected vice-president. In 2004 he was elected president where he served 2 consecutive terms from 2004-2008.
Chris worked as an optician and contact lens specialist in the Cambridge, Massachusetts area for 16 years before joining the team at Vision North in February of 2012. Since then, Chris has been manager of Vision North and enjoys being back in the neighborhood of Boston’s North End where he spent much of his childhood.
Being a die hard football fan, every fall you can find Chris on the sidelines coaching football in his hometown of Maynard where he lives with is wife and two sons.
Kelly McCormick ABOC, NCLC

Kelly McCormick joined Vision North’s team in July of 2011 as a patient care coordinator. Kelly has nearly two decades of customer service experience and is always happy to greet a patient with a warm and friendly smile, going above and beyond to satisfy a patient’s needs.
Kelly has recently completed the Massachusetts Optician apprentice program and is working on obtaining her dispensing optician’s state license. Kelly is currently certified with the American Board of Opticianry and the National Contact Lens Examiners associations.
Kelly currently resides in Salem, MA, but loves coming to the North End because of the great sense of community the neighborhood has to offer. She loves to travel and also spend time with her animals.
Greg Rabbe LDO

Officially joining the Vision North team in August of 2022, Greg is a Licensed Optician originally from Westford, MA. Greg received his bachelor’s degree in Sports Biology from Springfield College in 2011, where he played Rugby. Shortly after graduating Greg pursued the field of Optics as an Optometric Technician for several years in Newton before completing the Optician Apprenticeship Program in 2018. Greg is passionate about helping you see the world clearly while feeling comfortable in your new pair of glasses. Greg is experienced with frame selection so come in for your next pair and he’ll help you elevate your image!
Greg currently resides in Boston and enjoys spending his free time being active either playing Basketball, Golf or Tennis. Greg is also very musically inclined with hosting Musical Bingo events around the city and also DJ’ing Weddings on the side.
Miranda Demers

Miranda joined Vision North’s team in 2022 after graduating college with a Bachelor’s degree in 2021. Her passion for the optical field began when she got her first pair of glasses in third grade, and her passion has grown throughout her life. She is always positive and quick thinking, and she is happy to be one of the first faces to welcome patients into the practice.
Miranda looks forward to getting to know Boston even more, and she is continually surprised by the beauty of the city. After growing up in a military family, Miranda likes finding new places to explore and will happily take any restaurant or park recommendations.
